Corey Haines Performance Kata

8.25.09 by Gregg Pollack

On June 3rd, 2009 Corey Haines came to speak at the Orlando Ruby Users Group.  While there he coded through one of his Performance Katas and I managed to Screen Capture it for your enjoyment.  This video serves as a great example of test driven development in Ruby.

  5. Hey guys, glad you like the videos.

I used “Screenflow” the OSX app to capture this video in a single take. I also had a USB microphone hooked up so the sound would be better then what you’d get from the macbook built in microphone.

  7. I really enjoyed this video. It’s stuff like this that cement the power and practice of TDD/BDD. There were a lot of things I learned from this video, but my thoughts would take up too much space, so I posted them on my blog at http://charlesmaxwood.com/8-lessons-from-corey-haines-performance-kata/

Thanks to everyone for watching and the great comments. Here’s the direct link to Micah’s talk at Rubyconf. He does a great job on expanding the ideas, as well as performing a wonderful kata for Langston’s Ant.
