RubyConf Brazil 2012
Last week I was in São Paulo for RubyConf Brazil. This is the fifth consecutive year that Fabio Akita and Locaweb have put on a nationwide Ruby on Rails event in Brazil, and the result could not have been better.
It was a two-track, two-day event with topics ranging from scaling Rails applications to writing games with the latest web technologies. I presented on Poderosas Interfaces Rails (Powerful Rails Interfaces), which is a subject I’ve been doing a lot of research on for the past year.

Using Ruby and Rails to model complex business rules is becoming a pain point in the community, especially now that Rails has reached a stage where it is being used across a wide range of domains. From small startups to big enterprises, modeling a clean interface for your Rails models is crucial to writing testable, maintainable, and extendable code.
This is very similar to the talk I presented at RailsConf this year, which was recorded by Confreaks and can be seen below:
In case you are a Portuguese speaker, then you can watch my actual RubyConf Brazil talk here.
I will also be presenting again at this year’s Magic Ruby, which will take place October 5 and 6 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park here in Orlando, FL. If you are planning on being there, please come find me and say hi!
