Senior Web Developer Opening

We have an opening for a Senior Web Developer in our Orlando, Florida office. Our developers work with great clients while building a wide variety of complex and challenging applications. They also contribute back to the community through writing blog posts, creating podcasts, developing products, and public speaking.

Requirements:

Envy is an employee-owned web design and development engineering agency. We build medium-to-large-scale applications for many types of clients, from startups to industry-leading organizations like Cisco, Google, GitHub, and Booz Allen Hamilton. We also create our own products, such as Code School: one of the most popular online technology education platforms. At Envy, our goal is to transform ideas into successful technology products for our clients.

Envy is a small, elite team that values individual responsibility over imposed hierarchy. As such, you’ll be required to manage your relationship with clients, designers, and front-end developers to ship products in a timely fashion. As a Senior Developer, you’ll get to consult and guide the client during the initial meetings, and see the project through to launch (check out Our Process for a little more). You’ll be responsible for understanding project needs, providing expert direction and suggestion, executing tasks, managing expectations and timelines, and delivering expertly-crafted solutions.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone to work in our downtown Orlando office, but remote positions will be considered for the right candidates.

You’ll need:

• Solid understanding of test-driven software development.
• Excellent knowledge of Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL.
• Experience working with automated deployment and testing systems.
• Confidence when interacting with clients while gathering and driving project requirements.
• Expertise in identifying project tasks and complexities.
• Demonstrable communication skills.
• Experience consulting and working with customers.
